It is a living map of where we have been, a vibrant garden of forking paths traced on our skin and to our core
Bringing touch and sensation to the forefront of my visual language, I refuse to give literal picture to something that needs to be kept safe. The place between love and reverence: mysteries of time, home, and connection. I use the concept and material of the microbiome to give language to invisible traces, as this interspecies relationship marks the traces of reciprocity across time.
These chemigram and body prints are tactile collaborations between me and my partner. Through chance and over time, they were made by our fingers, bellies, and faces moving with saliva, honey, water, and our propagated yeast and bacteria. Sometimes I let them sit in the darkroom for weeks after coating, some I put around us in situ before coating: over our bed, under the bed, hanging in the kitchen window.

In progress (I think)
