Artist bio

Cate Luna (b. Visalia, CA, 1998) is an artist currently living in Boston, primarily choosing analog and alternative process photography to find truth in sensation. Raised across two disparate Californian ecosocial landscapes, her work is preoccupied with duality and pursuit of something real. A key aspect of her work is collaboration with her partner and the solace of queer intimacy in an era of extreme hostility. Her work engages with ideas surrounding the more-than-human, queer ecology, and agential realism (feminist metaphysics). Her work has been shown in the Cabrillo College Gallery, Mendocino College Gallery, the Monterey Museum of Art, and at MassArt galleries. She worked previously as an ecological landscaper and gardener. She has a BA in environmental studies & agroecology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is currently pursuing her MFA in photography at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
